Kopš 2019. gada februāra recepšu medikamentiem Eiropas Savienībā jābūt marķētiem pret viltojumiem drošā iepakojumā un marķētiem ar kodu, kas satur unikālu identifikatoru - šo procesu sauc par serializāciju. Pateicoties šai verifikācijas sistēmai ES, tiek garantēta vairāku miljardu medicīnas produktu identifikācija un autentifikācija.
